Navigating Grief Programme.

£425

A six-week psychoeducational programme and supportive space for adults bereaved by the death of someone significant

Delivered in small groups in Reading Town Centre

Grief changes us.

When someone important dies, it’s not just their absence that you grieve. You might also be grieving the future you imagined, the routines that shaped your lives, your sense of safety, your identity, and the assumptions you held about the world. Alternatively, you might have had a particularly complex relationship with someone who’s died, and be feeling understandably conflicted about their death.

Whatever your experience of death, grief can affect every part of you. It can leave you exhausted, anxious, disconnected, forgetful, emotionally overwhelmed or unexpectedly numb. Many people tell me they wonder whether what they’re experiencing is "normal" or worry that they are grieving in the wrong way. The truth is that grief has no single pathway and takes no one form. It’s different for every one of us.

Navigating Grief is a professionally facilitated six-week psychoeducational programme designed to help you make sense of the psychological, emotional and physical impact of bereavement.

The programme provides a reflective space that has been created to gently support you through grief, helping you make sense of your experience and find ways to cope with life after loss. Rather than focusing solely on sharing experiences, this programme combines evidence-informed psychological teaching with guided reflection, discussion and practical strategies to help you understand your own grief and develop ways of living alongside it.

This is not group therapy or a bereavement counselling group. It is a structured educational programme that uses psychological and therapeutic techniques, offering a safe and compassionate environment in which to learn, reflect and connect with others who are also navigating loss.

Who is the programme for?

This programme may be suitable if you:

  • have experienced the death of someone important to you

  • feel confused by your grief or the way it has affected you

  • would like to understand the psychology of grief rather than simply be told that "time heals"

  • are finding it difficult to adjust to life after your loss

  • are looking for practical strategies alongside emotional understanding

  • are considering bereavement counselling or therapy and would like a psychologically informed introduction

  • value learning alongside others with similar experiences.

You do not need to talk in detail about your bereavement to benefit from the programme.

Who this programme is not for: The programme is unlikely to be appropriate if your bereavement is extremely recent and you are currently experiencing acute crisis, you require intensive psychological therapy or specialist trauma support, you are experiencing significant suicidal thoughts or unmanaged mental health difficulties that require more immediate intervention or you are seeking a traditional bereavement support group where the primary focus is sharing personal stories.
